As best I can tell, this is an image of the SS NOMADIC. A different photo from this same archive is titled in the image: SS NOMADIC (as seen on bow of ship), and this appears to be taken from the same ship. The named image is for sale in a separate auction.
SS Nomadic is a former tender of the White Star Line, launched on 25 April 1911 in Belfast. She was built to transfer passengers and mail to and from RMS Olympic and RMS Titanic. During World War I and until 1919, Nomadic was requisitioned by the French government, and she saw service as an auxiliary minesweeper, also ferrying American troops to and from the harbor in Brest (France).
