    Description

    2 Rare REPRINTED certficites of discharge that areconnected to Titanic:
    Rare reprinted, official ''Certificate of Discharge'' of surviving Titanic crew member Thomas Knowles, issued by England's Board of Trade, relieving him of service on the ship MORMAN, dated 21 December 1896 in Southampton, where the Titanic set sail in 1912. Knowles saw service on several vessels before at the last moment, taking the place of a deserting crew member to have a chance to serve as a firemen's messman aboard the Titanic. He was rescued in Englehard collapsable boat C.
    Knowles’s wife did not even know he was on board the Titanic until she received word that he had been saved.
    This reprinted document, shows moderate soiling and wearfrom the original source document, but, Overall in very good condition.
    The second Certficate of Discharge is dated 21 Nov 1895 for Fireman Riley, who was discharged from service from the S.S. MAJESTIC.
    Signed by the Captain of the Majestic, none other than
    Captain E.J. SMITH
    who would go on to Captain the ill-fated RMS Titanic.
    These 2 items are quite unusual.
    Nice clean reprints printed on 8.5 x 11 inch, 65 lb cardstock, acid free and archival quality.
