THE STORY OF LUIGI & VITTORIO GATTI'S TEDDY BEAR:
Did you know, Luigi Gatti, had a teddy bear with him when he went down with the RMS Titanic?
Luigi Gatti was chosen by the White Star Line to manage the A La Carte Restaurant aboard Titanic.
When he left his family to board the great liner, his young son, Vittorio, gave Gatti a little teddy bear to take with him. When the body of Gatti was recovered by the recovery vessel, Minia, they found this little teddy on his body.
The teddy was given back to his family and was displayed at the Ribchester Museum of Childhood.
Following the 1995 closure of the museum the teddy bear was sold at an auction hosted by Convery Auctions Ltd. in 2009. The sale also included a pipe and a photograph of Luigi Gatti.
