    Description

NOT MUCH IS KNOWN ABOUT THESE MEDALLION/COINS OF ARTHUR H ROSTRON- CAPTAIN OF THE CARPATHIA AND THE HERO OF THE TITANIC SINKING & RESCUE.
In 1912, only 500 of these bronze coins were struck, and one was presented to Captain Rostron.
The artist was Theodore Spicer Simson, commissioned by Molly Brown.
The last time that I saw an original was in 2002, sold at auction, by a major auction house,
    for over 00.
Apparently, not many of these survived from the original 500, and the few that did are in private collections.
According to Numismatic News- "This is the rarest of all Titanic Coins"
A 51 mm 1912 commemorative bronze medallion of Captain Arthur Henry Rostron of the Carpathia, designed by Theodore Spicer-Simson. This medal was privately commissioned by Titanic survivors Margaret (Molly) Brown and Dennis Telluride.
Sprigs of laurel separate the segments, sculptors identification at collar. Front is inscribed S.S. TITANIC / APRIL 15 1912 / S.S. CARPATHIA / CAPTAIN ROSTRON head facing right. Considered scarce by the Numismatic Association, with only 500 struck.
Now is your chance to own the only authentic replica that I know of that is being offered for sale.
this replica is impeccable in it's accuracy.
It is a beautiful example of what the originals looked like.
It is a one-sided coin, like the original, in an antique bronze finish.
Your coin will arrive in a black & satin velvet presentation box.
The coin/medal is raised relief and measures 5.1 cm in diameter and is 3.5mm thick.
It is a nice hefty coin and something that you will be proud to display and show.
The back is plain and unfinished, just like the originals.
(I have in my listing pictures, One image of an original that survived which was sold at auction--with the auction image and price.-- these are for educational and historical reference and are included in this listing)
