W.C. Cobb, first superintendent of the Ware Shoals Manufacturing Company and for 50 years an important figure in the textile world, died at his home here Monday morning at 9 o'clock. He was in his 81st year and had been retired since 1926. Mr Cobb came to Ware Shoals in 1905. He had begun his textile career at Pelzer as a sweeper in the mill there. His business ability was early discovered by the late Capt. Elison A Smyth and his rise to a position of responsibility was rapid. For years Mr. Cobb was recognized as an authority in the textile field. He contributed thought and energy to practically every phase of the development of the plant at Ware Shoals.
