Description
R.M.S. Baltic (White Star) Ornate Milk Glass Plate. 7 and 3/8". Colored starboard view of the ship at sea at the center of the plate. Plate shows wear. Yellowing of white margin around picture. No chips, cracks or breaks of the milk glass. There are no marks on backside of the plate.The R.M.S. Baltic was an ocean liner of the White Star Line that sailed between 1904 and 1933. At 23,876 gross tons, she was the World's largest ship until 1905. She was the third of a quartet of ships, all measuring over 20,000 gross register tons, dubbed The Big Four (the other three being RMS Celtic, RMS Cedric, and RMS Adriatic).
The R.M.S. Baltic was launched on November 21, 1903. With 906 passengers onboard, Baltic departed Liverpool for her maiden voyage on June 29th, 1904, and arrived in New York 7 days, 13 hours and 37 minutes later. Under the command of Captain EJ Smith.
