RMS TITANIC. Remarkable original negative of James and Mabel Fenwick aboard the RMS Carpathia taken during the Titanic rescue on the morning of April 15, 1912. The negative measures 5.75 by 3.5 inches, in near fine condition with only minor soiling, accompanied with a modern first generation photograph, acquired from a direct descendant of the Fenwick family, and accompanied with documentation from Henry Aldridge Auctioneers, the world’s leading Titanic memorabilia auction house, attesting to its authenticity.
REMARKABLE ORIGINAL NEGATIVE OF NEWLYWEDS AND HONEYMOONERS ABOARD THE RMS CARPATHIA TAKEN DURING THE TITANIC RESCUE ON THE MORNING OF APRIL 15, 1912
James and Mabel Fenwick were newlyweds and beginning a three month honeymoon trip to Europe aboard the RMS Carpathia. They departed New York on April 11, 1912 not knowing that four days later the Carpathia would come to save over 700 survivors from the most famous shipping disaster of all time. Early on the morning of April 15, Mabel Fenwick was woken up by a man’s voice crying, “Titanic’s going down.” Mabel rushed on deck with her camera and began taking photographs. The present negative was among numerous images she captured that chronicled this momentous event and provide a unique record of the events that unfolded.
